New 19-point cross-type AF system

User Rating is 9.1(out of 10) with over 70 total reviews.

Pros:
The most loved feature is the new 19-point AF system.  The second favorite feature was
the 8 fps continuous shooting.  These two were the only features to allow this camera to
compete with the 5D and 5D Mark II.  All other comments were from people upgrading
from cheaper cameras.  T
he higher ISO performance compared to cheaper cameras was
very common comment
.

Cons:
The most hated defect is the white noise in all low light photos.  The complaint is all ISO
settings had lots of noise in the dark areas.
The next most hated aspect was the learning
curve for using the new AF system.  It seems the default focus settings performed poorly
and the user had no choice to use the more advanced manual settings for AF.  Only the
people who mastered the new AF system said they had good photos.  The numbers seem
to be almost half the people had trouble understanding the new system.

Usage:
Most photographers say they use the 7D for Street, Portraits, and Sports photos.  The
sports photos is only achievable if you can understand the new AF system.

Conclusion:
The only image quality limitation on this camera was the poor performance in low light
conditions.  The 5D is a much better performer in low light and higher ISO.  The other
issue is the new camera owner MUST take the time to learn how to use the new AF
system correctly.  It was rare to see people love and hate the same feature.  For the price,
this is a great camera, but it is not a full-frame and should not be in the professional
camera category.
