Your Web Page Host:     John J. Barnes   -  (Born USA 1964).

John has been into photography since he was 12 years old and his training begin with the
Time-Life Photography series from his mother's library.  He was a member of the local Jr. High
School Photo Club while using a Kodak Instamatic and an Argus Range Finder.  John also
enjoyed experimenting  with the Pinhole camera using the round Quaker Oatmeal containers.

As a young adult, John used the Canon EOS Rebel SLR film camera.  Those years consisted
mostly of travel, nature, event and wedding photos.  It was not until 2005 when John bought his
first DSLR, that he really started to take photography serious as a possible career.  He studied
photography again using the Ansel Adams Photography Series and Biography.

Who Are We?  We are a small group of
professional photographers living in
China.  Our team is from many parts of
the world including:  North America,
South America, Europe, South East Asia,
Russia and China.  Each of us maintain
our own web pages and we also have a
group page.  Some of us have formal
training in photography at the university,
others from books and seminars.  We
each enjoy our craft and aspire to always
improve and find more ways to be
creative.  Only some members of our
group do photography full time.
Which Camera Do We Use?  Most of us
use Canon or Nikon DSLR digital cameras.
Some of us still have our old film cameras.
The group favorite is the Canon 5D Mark II.
Other cameras include the Canon 7D,
Canon 500D, Nikon D80, and Nikon D90.
Each of us prefer professional grade lenses
with most preferring the f/2.8 zoom lenses.
Only one of us prefers prime lenses with
several f/1.4 and f/1.2 lens.  Each camera
can take great photos with the correct lens
attached.  The Canon 5D is the favorite
because it can take photos in low light and
is the only full frame camera in our group.
The Canon 5D can also do 2K HD video.
What Equipment Do We Use?  For
photos, the most important is a good
quality tri-pod.  For the studio, we have
four 300 watt flashes and two 600 watt
flashes.  For night time photos, we use
remote control with cables.  Video
equipment is a whole new expensive world.
We have fluid head tri-pods, sliders, jib
cranes, matte-box rigs, and electronic
follow focus.  Recording sound for video is
also complex.  We have sound mixers,
digital sound recorders, singing mics,
boom mics, meeting mics, boom poles, and
lots of cables.  Photos and Video need to
be edited on 64bit computers using
professional software.  We use Adobe
Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe
Premier on both Windows 7 and Mac OS.
